#strongfirstresilient: Wall Walk Bridge “Facin #strongfirstresilient: Wall Walk Bridge

“Facing away from a wall, simply stand about 2 or 3 feet from the wall. Placing your arms overhead, lower back until your hands touch the wall. From here, lean on your hands and then walk your hands down the wall. Walk your feet out as necessary to avoid exceeding your current level of flexibility. When you reach the limit of your flexibility and strength, walk your hands back up the wall and your feet back in closer to the wall until you have returned to a standing position.” (Coach Sommer)

Elongate the spine—don’t bend just at your lower back. “Think of wrapping yourself around some large ball.” (Pavel).

Make sure to tense your glutes to protect your lower back.

Your knees may come forward, and your heels up.

Before you start to practice it, make sure you have spent enough time on improving your hip/spine extension and shoulder flexion in the previous drills.

Beware of slippery wall or floor. “Bridge wall walks build greater flexibility throughout your entire back as well as functional strength. Eventually you will be able to walk your hands completely down to the ground. As your strength improves, use your hands less and less for support, until you are able to lower
to the ground and back up without
the assistance of the wall.” (Coach Sommer)

This exercise was one of the favorite drills of many old-time strongman—e.g. legendary English strongman Edward Aston or Charles MacMahon
who called the exercise “Bending-Crab.”

If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath - a wolf.

But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? Then you are a sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero's path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed.”

– Lt. Col. Dave Grossman

Meditation Quick Start Guide Of all the things I Meditation Quick Start Guide

Of all the things I have ever learned and practiced, I consider the art of "just sitting" aka meditation to be the very best and most important. I am “just sitting” for several years, nothing has had such a carry over and benefit into improving my quality of life as meditation. 10 minutes a day, game changer.

There are countless methods, the complicated esoteric/New Age methods are a dead end imho - it's much, much simpler as the original Samatha/Vipassana, Advaita, Dzogchen and Zen methods show. Here's how to get started:

“The first process is to get one-pointed attention. This is done by directing attention to a spot [at the tip of the nose or] on the upper lip so that the in-going and out-going breath is felt. This point of warmth is the ‘ring in the nose of the bull’ that quickly trains him to be obedient. Thus, when attention wanders, it is brought back to the feel of that spot, and soon it will choose not to wonder but will remain where it is directed. Once the attention is calm and tranquil, it will reveal the truth of any experience upon which it is focused.

“Life is suffering
Love is the desire to see unnecessary suffering ameliorated
Truth is the handmaiden of love
Dialogue is the pathway to truth
Humility is recognition of personal insufficiency and the willingness to learn
To learn is to die voluntarily and be born again, in great ways and small
So speech must be untrammeled
So that dialogue can take place
So that we can all humbly learn
So that truth can serve love
So that suffering can be ameliorated
So that we can all stumble forward to the Kingdom of God” ― Jordan B. Peterson @jordan.b.peterson
